Needville Community Church

The Difference Between Good Days and Bad Days

Today I did something different. I have been a minister here in Needville for almost 5 years and I have never done what I did today….I walked to the Post Office. It is such a beautiful day and the walk was wonderful except, unlike Nancy Sinatra, “my boots ain’t made for walkin’”. As I walked down Richmond Street I thanked God for the sun, the birds, the cool breeze; I thought about the times I walked to school as a kid or doing my paper route after school on days like today. As I walked by our church I prayed for the NCC family and special needs I knew of and as I past by Grace Community Fellowship I prayed for Pastor Allen and the family of God there. I walked by the Brazosview Apartments and prayed for Sahaid and his mother, Victoria, Justine and Gabriel, Mike and Krystal Solomon and their children and Mary the manager.

I was thinking this is a great day.

Then the Lord starting speaking to my heart and He asked me “What was the difference between today and last week when I had a horrible day?” I started to think about last week and I was sick, my car needed to be repaired; Teri wasn’t feeling well and a number of other issues. I started to make excuses to God about the 2 days. Then I came to the road leads to the Post Office off of Richmond…..the name of the road is Charity. God said that was the difference. Last week on the bad day it was all about you and today it’s been about everybody else. I had a great walk, out of the office; exercise; time of prayer; met somebody new at the Post Office and saw 2 people I did know; the church received a special offering thru the mail and God because you have been a blessing you are receiving these blessings.

I realized that the difference between good days and bad days is where our focus is. If you want a good day, find somebody who is hurting like you are and give to them what you need for yourself and watch the blessings of God flow into your life. As I looked at the street sign I realized that God was only asking me to do what He had done Himself as on a bad day, a Friday, he hung on the cross and thru His shame and pain gave me a very good day and for that fact a good life and a good eternity.

Have a good day, good friend, ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY!
